SHAMANDOME CAMP
AT BURNING MAN

Find Your Power Animal
Introducing people to shamanic practice is our primary mission, offered almost daily (please check our most-updated schedule), Tuesday through Saturday, during the burn.
A simple beat of a drum or rattle can help anyone fall into an Altered State of Consciousness (ALC), wherein mind, heart, and spirit integrate, promoting an environment for healing transformation. While we honor and revere the authority of plant medicines, our practice uses only the sound of the drum and the rattle to achieve ALC, as is the tradition in most shamanic practices globally.
Shamandome's circle leaders instruct our guests -- who we refer to as clients, to establish a professional relationship -- how to journey to the Lower World, to enable a connection with their primary spiritual guide, which usually manifests as an animal. They may ask their Power Animal for healing or guidance. Whatever journey they experience, clients usually find resonance between its message and their question or situation.
Whenever time allows, the basic Power Animal journey will be followed by a Paired Journey, in which pairs of clients journey on each others' behalf, asking their newly-met power animals to answer their partners' questions.
Extraction Healing
For those who have already met and worked with a Power Animal. You'll begin by journeying to connect with your Power Animal. On a second journey, your circle leader will instruct you in working with your Power Animal to locate energy blockages in your client's body, and how to use your Power Animal to help you remove bad vibes, stuck energy, and negative emotions. We all need a clean out!
Soul Retrieval
For those who have already met and worked with a Power Animal. Soul parts can split off during and just before trauma, abuse, a car accident, surgery, or a bad break-up. Co-dependency can displace soul parts. In this workshop, you'll go on a shamanic journey and ask your Power Animal to search for a client's lost soul parts. Our circle leaders will teach you how to return them to the client, with tips for incorporating the renewing energy of the soul parts back into their life.

CORE SHAMANISM WORKSHOPS
based on the work of Michael Harner
Shamandome practitioners and guest healers may also offer workshops in non-shamanic modalities, such as entheogen and/or therapies describing the use of psychedelics, kundalini awakening, breathing techniques, mind-body connection, metaphysics, and other energy practices.
We do not allow the use of non-legal medicines in our workshops.

TIPS FOR THE PLAYA

If this is your first time camping at Burning Man, or to refresh your memory on important logistics, please read Burning Man's First-Timer's Guide and the Survival Guide.
WINDSPIRIT'S "INSIDER TIPS" FOR LIFE ON THE PLAYA:
So you've gone over that list posted on the Burning Man site fifteen million times. Here are some additional precious pieces of advice:
1. YOUR WATER BOTTLE is truly vital – carry a spare if you tend to lose things, and especially have a pouch/backpack/strap/whatever that allows you to have your water with you at all times!
2. BIKE LOCK: Shamandome is including use of a bicycle with your camp fee (on a first-come-first-served basis). In order to prevent your playa bike from being stolen or "borrowed" you must bring your own lock - keyless, number-code locks are best - and something, anything, to decorate your bike with. Once you park it amongst 500 similar looking bikes, all equally dusty, it will be impossible to recognize yours unless you have done something unusual to it. Plush toys, fake flowers, ribbons, balloons…LIGHTS...you name it!
3. LIGHTS: for yourselves AND your bike are vital at night so that you can see and be seen and avoid crashes. The blinking front lights for bikes are great, for you a blinking headlight, and many burners like to have a good supply of glowsticks to wear at night.
4. SOLAR SHOWER BAGS: We now have a small powered shower wand. We also provide some sun shower bags, but if you have one and it's easy to bring with you, it's a good idea to have your own as a backup. Usually one large one is big enough for 2 people – you’ll be surprised by how little water it takes to get reasonably clean!
5. “HUGGIES” WIPES are a burner’s best friend - get a large pack!!!
6. CONTACT LENSES? Carry plenty of saline solution, and spares. Having all the dust on the playa in your eyes for a week does not make for a good Burning Man experience!!!!
7. FOR YOUR TENTS: we will provide a SHADE structure only - on a first come, first served basis – still, plenty of wind and dust will still affect your tent, and your belongings inside of it!
It is VITAL that you have the appropriate amount of heavy duty stakes for your tent, the big fat ones, plastic or steel, or your tent might fly to the opposite end of the playa!
Also, bring a couple of heavy duty contractor garbage bags in which to place your bedding during daytime, and anything else you need to protect from the dust – dust storms will happen, guaranteed!!! (and it will get into EVERYTHING that isn't sealed shut)
8. YOUR SKIN AND YOUR LIPS will start cracking as soon as you hit the playa. Make sure to bring plenty of moisturizers, foot cream, hand cream, chapstick, sun cream, and a hat!!!
9. DUST MASKS or bandanas will protect your lungs during dust storms. Take this very seriously, as the alkaline dust of the playa can cause serious long-term respiratory problems. If your lungs are on the delicate side, consider purchasing a respirator (from hardware stores - the 3M-type will do - it will say “for sprays and chemical fumes” or something similar), and they happen to be much more comfortable to wear than the little white masks anyway!
10. PLATES , GLASSES, FLATWARE – we now require campers to bring their own plate, bowl and utensils - in addition to the cup you should always have on you.
11. CRAVINGS : we all have them. If you have a favorite snack or food you can’t live without, make sure to bring it along – no corner delis on the playa!
12. Last but not least, YOUR GOGGLES will not only keep all that dust out of your gorgeous and precious eyes, but they are also your major fashion statement, a true reflection of the Shamanista you are deep, deep down!!!
I remember bitterly regretting showing up for my first burn with a pair of cheapo plastic goggles from the hardware store – do not make the same mistake!!!!
So now...get ready, we’ll have a fabulous time!!!!
Anything I forgot? “Veteran Burners” -- please share your secrets with us!!!!
Much Love,
Windspirit
